CMP Recertification
To maintain CMP status, meeting professionals must recertify every
five years. The recertification supports on-going meeting management
work experience and professional development. Recertification does
not require passing an examination again.
CMP Recertification is based on evidence of continued accountability
in the field of meeting management and continued development as a
meeting professional.
Recertification
forms are mailed during the first quarter of the year in which current
certification expires. Recertification points are being offered for
CMP volunteer activities such as proctoring exams, attending item
writing conclaves and covering the booth at industry events.
Initial certification is valid for five years ending on December 31st
of the fifth year following certification. To check your individual
expiration date or update your address visit the CMP Directory. Recertification
is based on evidence of continued employment in meeting management,
participation in the industry and continuing education.
In addition, retired CMPs can now recertify with a "Retired CMP"
status. Retirees simply complete the recertification form, and submit
it along with the fee and a letter to the CMP Board stating their
retired status.
NOTE: NEW Recertification Requirement:
CMPs recertifying in 2003 and beyond will be required to have at least
5 hours of continuing education in meeting management to recertify.
CIC member organizations offer continuing education programs that
qualify as points toward recertification. Some online programs are
now available. Contact CIC organizations directly for more information
about their education programs. CIC member organizations are listed
on the CIC
Website.
